Abaneh Ebangwese BSN, RN, CCRN

Abaneh is an acute and critical care nurse with eight years of experience, currently working at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital. She values the Greater Washington Area Chapter of AACN (GWAC) for providing a rich network that has enhanced and continues to enrich her nursing career, fostering both professional growth and community engagement.  

Sheila Pierre-Louis

Sheila Pierre-Louis DNP, APRN, AGACNP-BC, ACCNS-AG, CCRN-CMC

Treasurer

Dr. Pierre-Louis is a dual board-certified Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist with a decade of cumulative nursing experience in critical care. She currently serves as a Nurse Practitioner at a local community hospital, where she provides advanced care to acutely ill adult and older adult patients. Her clinical background spans critical care, palliative care, and advanced practice education. One thing she loves about GWAC is the opportunity to collaborate with passionate, forward-thinking nurses who are committed to advancing acute and critical care nursing practice.

Ginger Winder

Ginger Winder DNP, RN, NEA-BC

Secretary

Dr. Winder is a seasoned nurse with over 23 years of experience, having held various leadership roles in pediatrics and adult intensive care. She currently serves as the Director of Professional Practice at CalvertHealth. Ginger values her involvement with GWAC and appreciates the opportunity it provides to connect with a diverse community of nursing professionals both locally and nationally.

Alyssa Gail Valencia

Alyssa Gail Valencia BSN, RN

Education/Program Chair

Alyssa Gail is a critical care nurse at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital. A newer member of GWAC, she is grateful for the opportunities to network with local nurses and discover different avenues and fields in the nursing profession. Alyssa Gail strives to encourage new graduate nurses and nursing students to join and get involved in the community GWAC provides.

Rachel Knowles

Rachel Knowles BSN, RN, PCCN, NPD-BC

Membership/Social Media Chair

Rachel has 12 years of nursing experience in medical and cardiothoracic patient care and nursing education, preparing internationally-educated nurses for practice in the US, and providing education for ambulatory clinical associates. One thing she loves about GWAC is the potential for the chapter to influence the dynamic DMV area, by demonstrating our AACN mission of driving excellent nursing care, our vision for nurses contributing to patient and family-centered healthcare systems, and our values of integrity, inclusion, transformation, leadership, and relationships.

Minnie Raju

Minnie Raju DNP, RN

Board Member

Dr. Raju has 28 years of nursing experience. She has built a career in both critical care and nursing informatics. She started her career in critical care and served in that capacity for 12 years. Over the past 20 years, Minnie has worked as a nurse informaticist at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where she combines her clinical expertise with technology to improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes. Minnie joined the Greater Washington Area Chapter of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (GWAC) in 2001, serving in various roles. She initially joined to connect with a network of like-minded professionals and further her commitment in the nursing field. Through GWAC, she has formed lasting friendships and benefited from an organization that has played a key role in her professional growth.
